St. Patrick's Day Celebrations

On Tuesday March 16th, we had a very enjoyable afternoon of traditional music and dance to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The hall was decorated with bunting, shamrocks, balloons and pictures.
We were delighted to welcome Mr. Sheridan who played the accordion for us. Our visiting dancers Keeva, Orla, Evan and Orna impressed everyone with their dancing. We all tried to
join in in the "Clap dance", "Shoe the Donkey" and the "Stack of Barley". Ms O'Kelly danced a reel for us and also joined Mr. Sheridan in playing some tunes for us.
It was lovely to see the many parents and family members who came to celebrate with us.
We all enjoyed the potato cakes, the boxty and the cake and buns afterwards.

Gardening Project

Steffi Otto has begun working with all students on the garden project. Steffi came to meet everyone on February26th . The following Friday Steffi came to school and worked with the students in Senior 2 and 3 in creating miniature greenhouses. This activity was to teach
us all about how seeds germinate.
On Friday 12th , Steffi came to work with all the students from Senior 1 and Junior 2 on their greenhouses. Everyone is keeping an eye on their seeds to see the progress that they are making.
On Thursday March 18th, Steffi was back to work with Junior 1 and help them with their greenhouses.

Senior 3 helped Steffi mark out and measure out one of our vegetable beds and were busy

helping to dig out this bed. Then it was hard work drilling holes in buckets - we planted potatoes in these buckets and hope that these will produce their crop before we get our summer holidays.
Two different types of potatoes were planted in the buckets.
All classes have been working hard on garden plans, growing seeds in their class and learning about fruit and vegetables.
Senior 1 and 2 are working on the Incredible Edibles project as well as taking part in the garden project. They have lettuce, spinach, carrots and strawberries growing in their classrooms.
Senior 3 are growing herbs in pots in their classroom.
